Liv Saether was born in Los Angeles in nineteen fifty-four. At age sixteen, she experienced a sudden awareness of her artistic calling, and began teaching herself to paint. Though Liv received some training in old master techniques, she considers her artistic foundation to be largely self-taught; a result of experiment, discovery, and interactions with beauty.
Some of Liv's experience and expertise is rooted in her co-founding of the Bruchion Art Institute of Malibu California in the late eighties and early nineties. Bruchion was a multi-disciplinary creative haven of art instruction, poetry, lectures, music and dance.
Liv’s artistic pursuit is driven by an exploration of beauty, the vision of which she finds in contrast, texture, depth, and opposites. The convergence of delicacy and depth deliver a strong sense of magical realism to Liv’s work. Her work holds within it an aura of mysticism, both apparent and yet elusive.
This ethereal quality draws an audience of patrons and collectors who admire in Liv's rare artistry. Her work has been recognized among established collectors such as Joan Irvine Smith. Liv is a current member of the California Art Club and she showcases her work at selected shows in Orange County and Los Angeles, and at her studio in Costa Mesa. She is frequently sought out for her works depicting the scenic coastline of Crystal Cove and nearby state beaches.
